SocialMedia Pays Out $8 Million To Facebook App Developers

SocialMedia, one of the leading advertising platforms for social network applications, announced today that they’ve paid out over $8 million to developers since the platform’s launch last year.

The majority of this revenue has gone out to Facebook app developers, but the platform also supports applications running on OpenSocial. The money has been paid out to approximately 1000 developers that have used SocialMedia’s ad platform across 5000 applications (the money has not been evenly distributed, so it isn’t worthwhile to look at the average).

These figures may be encouraging to critics of Facebook’s development platform, who worry that applications can’t be easily monetized. During a talk at the Web 2.0 conference last April, members of an expert panel were predicting total revenues on the Facebook platform of as little as $10M this year – an amount that certainly wouldn’t be encouraging to the venture capital firms that have been pouring millions into some of these apps.

Around 20% of Facebook’s 29,000 applications have used SocialMedia to distribute ads (and contributed to the $8M total). While this is impressive, it only represents a fraction of the total revenue that’s being generated – clearly, there’s far more than $10 million to be had on these still-fledgling development platforms.

We saw that film

If you know anything about Microsoft history, you can easily see that, the battle between Microsoft and Google is just begin. Google, last week, agreed with yahoo about web-ads. That is probably people thinking is the end of the Microsoft absolutely wrong. Microsoft has a battle between, Netscape, ICQ, linux, which makes Microsoft stronger. In all these cases Microsoft wins the battle with absolutely the same way. Take the battle from technology to economy, which is their profesionality. As I said to Bill Gates on his last visit to Turkey, in my point of view Microsoft is not a technology company. They are a marketing company. They don’t produce technology, but selling technology. If Google try to fight with Microsoft in the market. They will probably lose the fight…

iPhone 2.0, trendy but not a “mobile solution”

The defragmentation on consumer electronics seems very popular… As a power user of mobile technologies, I am looking for a “mobile solution” which has a big vision without a big screen ( ?!?! , eyeglass or a projector) also the input to this machine is also important. Keyboard is big, voice maybe the best solution, but this input solution must be so handy. Also a mobile solution will be live with you so it must be a stress proof ( You probably understand what I mean.. :) ) First iPhone covers non of them. Lets look at the second one…

Web Design (Yildiz University, 2002)

Perception…

From the beginning of mankind up to our present time, the human being has founded civilizations owing to his intelligence. In general terms, intelligence is the faculty of adapting oneself to the surrounding environment. Contrary to nature, the Internet is not intended to create a mind for the environment but is a cyber protocol developed to create an environment for the mind.

Greenpeace protestors protested yesterday against an oil tanker traveling through El Estrecho Natural Park. They held a banner reading “España cómplice de la contaminación” (Spain, an accomplice in pollution) after painting a similar message on the ship's hull.
  • Grab your wine and come join in the protest July 14, 2009
There are some moments when you almost feel the need for a conspiracy theory to explain certain events. One such event is a recent protest that took place over a “wine-laden concert at Topkapı Palace.”
  • There is no military tutelage in Turkey July 14, 2009
As the signing ceremony for the Nabucco project took place yesterday in Ankara, Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal was busy saying Turkey's real problem is not its “military tutelage,” but instead its “[Prime Minister Recep] Tayyip Erdoğan tutelage.”
  • Nabucco and politics July 14, 2009
How is it that Turkey can agree to nations that oppose its entrance into the European Union having a word when it comes to Turkish energy policies?
  • Let's not get too excited July 14, 2009
Let's not get too excited. Turkey is strengthening its role as a bridge between the East and the West in the arena of energy. Now, in the wake of the Kirkuk-Ceyhan and Baku-Ceyhan pipelines, it has signed off on the Nabucco gas pipeline.
